GopherHole.com recently had a chance to quickly connect with Jake Kreuser, a 7-0, 200lb big man from Henry Sibley High School. The 2010 prep has garnered a lot of attention from schools including Minnesota and Wisconsin, and Kreuser tells GopherHole about his early recruitment and desire to add weight!
GH: How tall are you?
JK: About 7 feet.
GH: And how much do you weigh?
JK: A little over 200 pounds.
GH: I’m guessing you’re someone who’s grown so fast, it’s impossible to gain weight?
JK: I’m like Michael Phelps (laughing)! I’m trying to gain as much weight as I can.
GH: 12,000 calories a day?
JK: Yes!
GH: What schools have you been receiving interest from?
JK: I’ve gotten a lot of interest from North Dakota, Valparaiso, Northern Iowa, Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
GH: Have any of these schools indicated when they may offer you?
JK: Not yet, no.
GH: You just started your Junior year, correct?
JK: Yes.
GH: What would be your top school, if you had your pick of anywhere?
JK: I’d like to stay close to home, like Wisconsin or Minnesota, I’d like to go there.
GH: Coach (Vince) Taylor was just here, has he or any of the Minnesota coaching staff spoken to you yet?
JK: No, not yet.
GH: What camps, or other basketball events, have you attended this summer?
JK: We went to a team camp in Madison, and I’ve been playing AAU with the school team, and open gym. I play with 43 Hoops.
GH: What kind of things are you working on with your game?
JK: I’m just trying to get stronger, have better post moves, and a better shot, a better jump shot.
