As the GopherHole continues to look at potential recruits for the 2010 season, Nick Walsh chats with yet another Academy of Holy Angles prospect, Karl Inoferio. A 5’11”, 175 LB defensive back, Inoferio talks about his interest in wearing the Maroon and Gold in the coming years, as well as his thoughts on both his team and the Gophers next season, and how cool the Gophers’ new locker room is…from the outside.
NW: So you’ve been getting some attention from the Gophers?
KI: From Minnesota, yeah, for a few months. I took my first unofficial visit for the spring game.
NW: What other schools have been recruiting you so far?
KI: Probably the hardest right now, North Dakota State, the University of San Diego, and Northern Iowa.
NW: Any places that you’d like to go, or would like to hear from during the recruiting process?
KI: Definitely right now, the University of Minnesota would be my dream school, but I’m just looking to play division one football, so we’ll see how it goes.
NW: What did you think of the spring game?
KI: They got a lot of play makers on this team. Guys like Troy Stoudamire, he was absolutely fabulous, MarQueis Gray had a great game too. It looks like they got a lot of good talent on the way.
NW: Have you gotten to check out the new stadium?
KI: Yeah, I got to visit it before the spring game, in fact. It was still under construction, but from what they say it’s going to be an amazing place to play.
NW: Did you get to see the locker room?
KI: Actually, the guy didn’t have the key, so it was locked, and we couldn’t see it. (laughs…)
NW: What do you think of Holy Angels this upcoming year?
KI: Last year, we didn’t play as well as we should have. We had a lot of talent and we didn’t do much, but this year we’re definitely going to be more focused, and we’re looking for much bigger things this season.
